Invest In a Vacuum for Stairs

The best vacuums for stairs are the ones that are light, portable, with a long cable, lots of attachments or a compact footprint, the ability to capture fur and other features that make it easier to reach tight spots.  The first thing you need to do is to invest in a good vacuum cleaner for your staircases.  Vacuum cleaning is much more effective than sweeping because these machines capture dust and hair on surfaces.

First, Rake Your Stairs

The first thing you should do is to grab a scrubbing brush and to rake your staircase.  This loosens up dirt, pet hair and other messes that might be caught in the carpet fibers.

Vacuum Your Stairs

Use your vacuum cleaner and give your staircase a good clean.  Use a brush or hose attachment to effectively clean your staircase.  While you have your vacuum out and about you should also vacuum all of those other hard to reach areas in the café.  Areas such as underneath chairs and tables, behind counters and behind your fridges should be cleaned regularly.  You can also use your vacuum to suck up spider nests and dust from your ceiling corners.

Shampooing

You can apply carpet shampoo to the carpet with a brush.  These shampoos smell great and are specially developed to refresh carpets in both vibrancy and feel.

Remove Too Much Water

It is important to dry your carpets properly.  Grab a wet/dry vacuum to suck out all excess moisture from your carpets.  This will get your shop dry much quicker and will prevent nasty odors or mold and mildew from growing in your boutique.

Dry Your Stairs

Your stairs should be dried off properly to prevent mold growth.  Grab a loose fan and let it blow over the staircase or throw open all of your windows to allow some fresh air into the building.

Vacuum Again

Once your staircase is dry, you can vacuum it again to get rid of any other dirt and debris that might have come loose during shampooing.

Your carpeted staircase should now be properly clean, odor free and should smell great.  If your carpet is particularly thick then it might be wise to also give your carpet a good brush just to get those piles to look natural again.
