Do’s and don’ts of a cake shop gig

Whether you’re a guitarist looking to entertain some folks, or a trumpet player trying to make a name for himself, every musician has had to deal with gigs at restaurants, cafes, bakeries and cake shops at one point in time. Gigs are an amazing experience to build up your experience, connections, and training. That said, many beginners tend to be nervous before their first gig. For those inexperienced musicians, here’s a list of simple do’s and don’ts to remember before a cake shop gig:

Do

  • Create a setlist. You should have a list of the songs to play that is organized according to duration and order to make setup easier.
  • Grab the audience’s attention. It’s pretty obvious that you should open with a banger that makes the most audience impact.
  • Take some water with you onstage. You’ll be surprised by how dry your throat can get when you start your gig onstage, so make sure to have a water bottle with you.
  • Know that things may go wrong. Be ready for any worst-case scenario. Maybe keep an instrumental piece on hand that other musicians can play to make up for lost time during any mechanical or instrumental setbacks.
  • Look the audience in the eye. Your music isn’t the only thing people are interested in. If need be, signal to the mechanics and engineers mid-gig if you feel something isn’t right, so that they can fix the issue immediately, like if the trumpet isn’t playing over the speakers properly.

Don’t

  • Use the wrong instrument. This may seem like a basic tip to remember, but a lot of beginner musicians tend to take the wrong advice before gigs and use new instruments they’ve never played before. This rule is especially important for trumpet players, who require trumpets of the right size, build and use. One of the trumpets I would recommend is the jupiter 1100s intermediate bb trumpet. As a beginner, you’ll want to ensure you have a trumpet that works just as well as this to keep up your confidence before the gig. The Jupiter 1100S is also durable and well-built for long drives cross-country if your bakery gig is a little way over. You can easily find this trumpet anywhere on a number of online retail stores. The ideal seller through whom you can easily buy the product is using Amazon. Here the price starts just below $1,200, inclusive of free shipping. However, the one feature that stands out with this trumpet is the accident protection. This allows you to undertake easy, setups, use, maintenance and replacements without any fuss. The Jupiter Intermediate Bb Trumpet is the ideal instrument for any beginner or experience trumpet player ready for their next rehearsal or gig.
  • Forget to announce your name between each song. As a beginner, you’re relatively new to the music scene. You’ll have to make people remember you by hammering your name into their heads.
  • Allow long pauses during a set. If your crew or the mechanics are taking time setting up before or during the gig, try and lighten the mood by communicating with the audience. Maybe crack a joke here and there. You’ll have the audience ready to be entertained.
  • Take too long to pack up your equipment. If you’re a support act, chances are that the next band will want to start setting up as soon as possible. So, get ready in time and keep the audience interested. You’ll have plenty of time to have some drinks and chat up with fans in the audience backstage. Pack up and move on!
  • Be Shy. Confidence is key. Leave your shy disposition at home, and entertain the audience with your talent!

Bake Your Way to a Better Life

You’ve probably noticed that cooks, chefs, bakers, and people who spend a lot of time in the kitchen preparing meals are pretty darn happy. Even when they are irate, professional chefs still seem satisfied with life. As it turns out, there’s a reason for that. In fact, there are several reasons that people who spend a lot of time preparing food tend to be happier than those of us who pop a frozen dinner in the microwave before plopping down in front of the television. Here is why baking can help you achieve your own Zen.

Baking Is Soothing

Baking, and cooking in general, are soothing activities. For starters, they require just enough concentration to be distracting but not so much that they cause stress on their own. That’s not to say that baking can’t induce anger. Anyone who has ever watched crème brulee fall too much can detail for you the finer points of baker’s rage. That said, a failed baking experiment generally isn’t life-threatening and generally won’t break the bank, so the pressure is pretty low. By helping you forget about your life for a little while, baking can offer your body a chance to take things down a notch and rebuild. It also allows your brain to free-associate better, which might just result in you coming up with a solution to some of your more vexing conundrums. There is really no downside. You get to disengage for a little while, let your mind wander, and you end up with a delicious product at the end.

You Choose the Ingredients

You are what you eat, or so the saying goes. When you buy pre-packaged food, you are not only eating food, you are eating preservatives, dyes, and other ingredients you won’t find in home-cooked meals. Some of these additives, like MSG, have been linked to everything from sleep disturbances to anxiety and depression. When you prepare your own food, you know exactly what goes into it, so you can avoid the things that aren’t essential in favor of wholesome goodies.

Baking at home gives you control over your product. So not only can you avoid unnatural ingredients, you can make your baked goods healthier by reducing sugar and salt, substituting ingredients (e.g. chia seeds for some flour), and altering recipes to fit your needs. That way, you don’t have to feel guilty about eating that extra piece of cake. You can even add additional ingredients to help soothe your worries. Options like chamomile, turmeric, dark chocolate, yogurt, and more have all been linked to improved mood, reduced anxiety, and better health.

Peptides Like Selank have been shown to Boost Mood

Scientists are constantly developing new additives and ingredients, based off of natural derivatives, to make food healthier. Right now, there is a lot of work on Selank, a protein found naturally in humans and other mammals. As it turns out, Selank boosts mood and works synergistically with other anti-anxiety treatments to improve well-being. There is hope that it may be used in the future to treat people. Who knows, it may one day be an additive to food, much like iodine, vitamin D, and other important minerals are.

Selank is still being researched and has not yet been approved by the FDA for human use.

Share and Bond Over Food

Baking and cooking are great ways to bond with friends and family. There is nothing in life that substitutes for the happiness derived from sharing amongst those we love. Baking is a great way to bring people together, which boosts levels of natural anti-anxiety hormones like oxytocin.

Bake to Feel Better

Pull on your apron, crack an egg or two, and start baking your way to a happier you. Share your work and your creations with family and friends. There really is nothing to lose and so much to gain. In fact, cooking is quickly becoming a mainstay of modern psychology with the aptly named culinary art therapy (CAT) taking hold across the world. There really are benefits to cooking, but you don’t have to pony up a copay to take a CAT session. Just fire up your own oven and invite a friend over. Before you know it, you’ll be laughing your troubles away as you savor a tasty delicacy you prepared yourself.

Tips to Open A Bakery at Home

The women who have always wanted to have their own business, opening a bakery at home is one of the best options. Granted that they also like to bake and have proper knowledge of baking, they can do wonders in this field.

Tips To Open A Bakery at Home

Tips To Open A Bakery at Home

Working from home has several benefits. You can take care of your kids much easier and also manage the house chores in the order and manner that you like. You save money because you do not have to commute to work or spend extra on fuel costs. If you are looking to start this business, here are some tips:

  1. The housing infrastructure

The first thing that you need to do is look at the infrastructure of your house. The family rooms need to be a bit away from the place where you are conducting your business from because the privacy of your family is important. Secondly, there should be a good bathroom on one side which is used by the customers.

At homespaselect.com you will find countless unique ideas of remodeling your bathroom so that it becomes suitable for use by your customers. Adding these little features will help boost your baking business a lot because the customers will trust you and your workspace.

You need to make them feel comfortable and belonged. Perhaps this can also become the slogan of your business and the overall theme of your house bakery. We know that it is not possible to completely change the infrastructure of your house but if you think that you need to refurbish it or add a room, do not hesitate to do so. Moreover, a good business invests in the small things to get a bigger and better return.

  1. Plan it out

Never jump into a house business unless you know all the pros and cons of it. Remember, it is not just your decision. You have a whole family to think about and whatever you decide to do, the decision will affect them as much as it affects you. The better idea is to have a sit down with the members and talk it out. Tell them your whole plan and then take their opinion on it. A baking business is not difficult to manage if you are a baker.

You can hire other bakers if the work gets too much but initially, you can start off by baking small quantities of fresh goodies yourself. When you discuss your plan with other people, it starts to make better sense to you too. You will know the flaws and can improve them before any financial investment is done. Always plan the business properly and listen to the suggestions of others.

  1. Your work routine

At first, you must spend most of your waking hours at the workplace. The bakery will need a lot of attention. Because it is at your house, you would have to ask customers to stop by. However, eventually, you need to make a proper work routine. A work routine will consist of the timings you spend at the bakery and at home.

A proper balance needs to be maintained because you cannot start ignoring your family. It will turn into a chaos if your children are coming to the bakery and jumping up and down everywhere. Managing a healthy work routinely takes time.

Do not force yourself to make decisions which are too over the top as they can result in everything falling apart. Take care of yourself and your health. Even if you are overexerting your body, give yourself time to relax too.…
